I am defnitely opposed to more taxes. Like someone mentioned before, paying more taxes doesn't mean that the officers would be assigned to our area. Let's face it. There are some areas that are worse off than us. Last summer I worked from home and saw many shady individuals walking/driving up and down our neighborhood streets. Over the course of an entire summer, I only saw one police officer drive down our block and I am sure he had another agenda. I think that secruity cameras would definitely help and are a great idea but judging by the attendance at the meeting where these were discussed, I am guessing it would be next to impossible to get everyone in HighPointe on board with this. It would take full cooperation from all HighPointe residents to really make it work. But, I know that just the presence of Security Camera signs have made a difference in other communities. Unfortunantly it takes the motivation of all residents to make a community safe. A handful of us can't do it alone.

I agree with Ms. Allen
My home wasn't broken into but my pool was used without our permission, while we were away and lawn furniture was vandalized(fence locked). Kids, I'm sure but what if the worst happened!

My God !! no more Tax increases. Let's work with what we already have. Neighborhood watch programs, police being more visiable. Possible a police mobile unit placed here & there. I also agree with the comment about police sitting trying to catch someone not making a complete stop or 5 over mph. My home was broken into 2 yrs ago during working hrs. & in seconds they clean me out. Patroling the neighborhoods is the old fashion way of letting people know someone is watching you.

Respectfully

Ms. S. Allen

I for one am opposed to paying more taxes. Would anyone be open to considering a neighborhood watch program?

We don't need more Police, we need them on patrol and not sitting on 67 or cedar hill rd. or other places trying to catch someone 5 over. Use your resources wisely. There alot of places in Cedar Hill that probably could use the presence. I'm retired and I see all kinds of charaters driving up and down the alleys during the day. Even kids out of school roaming around.

I will aslo apologize for failure to spell check my posts :( , along with reposting a corrected version.

Ms Knedler has a great idea. Additional Lights (Non sky polluting of course in the parks, and along many residential areas also would be helpful.
I might add a police chief that seems to care a little more.(Personal rant) When they inactive a thousand dollar motor vehicle break in case a week after it is reported, and after telling we have a huge motor vehicle break in problem in HighPointe, I think a more proactive police chief /presence is needed. Little seems to be done by them when they are called about groups of teenagers wondering the streets at night. In short, I also agree with Mr. Jones above.

I agree with Maggie Knedler. Adding a police substation near the fire station would be attractive and provide a sense of security. It would also be nice if they could patrol the community during the day, especially as the children are being released from school.

I think it would be great if the city would add a police sub station to the already existing fire station. This would provide a more visible police presence in this area.

A tax increase to hire more police officers would not necessarily mean they would be assigned to High Pointe. You might end up paying taxes to provide more police protection to other areas.
