What additional features would you like to see added to High Pointe’s existing neighborhood parks?

“Sound Off” on your property taxes

Have your property taxes “gone up” or “gone down”?  “Sound Off” and share what has happened to your property value in High Pointe.

Thursday’s, July 26, 2007,  Dallas Morning News has a lead article on the front page of Metro which reads, Tax roll gains 10% in Dallas County.  The county’s certified tax roll increased by 10.2 percent (%)to $161.2 billion according to data released Wednesday by the Dallas Central Appraisal District (DCAD).   Ryan Brown, the county’s budget director said it is the largest property value increase in at least two decades thanks to a big boost from a thriving commercial sector.  In Dallas County commercial property values rose 15.5 %, while residential properties increased 7.5%.  The article goes on to say, “Southern Dallas County is experiencing the biggest economic boom”.   Cedar Hill’s certified tax roll showed an increse of 10.4% from 2006’s $2,671,636,752 to 2007’s $2,948,530,658.  Cedar Hill’s figures do not show a breakout between commercial and residential property taxes.

How did your property fare? My property in High Pointe’s Cumberland, Phase I, increased by $9,270, a 6.8% increase.  At a recent meeting of concerned High Pointe residents, a home owner in The Reserve said her property had decresed by $17,000, while another Reserve neighbor said hers decreased by $27,000.

Individual home owners can view their property’s appraisal on DCAD’s web site http://www.dallascad.org.    On the home page “click” on Search Appraisals and follow the instructions on how to look up your appraisal record.  Property owners who experienced a significant increase or decrease in their property’s evaluation should contact DCAD for an explanation.  While it is too late to protest this year’s tax appraial, indivialual residents would at least know why their appraised property value, and taxes, increased or decreased.

Share your thoughts!  Did your property value ”go up” or “go down”?  What do you think should be done to maintain and increase the value of your individual property in High Pointe?

High Pointe PID Board of Directors Schedules Election

High Pointe PID Board of Directors schedules election.

September is election month for the Cedar Hill Public Improvement District #1, more commonly known as the High Pointe PID.

Four of the Board’s seven positions will be up for election, and we would like to urge anyone interested in serving the High Pointe community to run for a board membership.

The High Pointe Public Improvement District has accomplished so much since it’s inceptition. However, it takes dedicated people  from the community to step up to the plate to make decisions that affect what High Pointe will look like in times to come.

The PID manages nearly $400, 000 annually, and before long the PID will handle half a million dollars a year.

NOW is the time for YOU to consider giving a little of your time back to your community!

The four board positions that are open are as follows:

Area 3  Director - one position - all homeowners who live west of New Clark Road and south of Wintergreen Road are elegible for a board position.

At Large Director  - three positions  - there are three board positions open to ANY homeowner of High Pointe.

Being elected to the PID board means attending several meetings during the year.  Generally the board meets in October, November, February, April, May, June, August, and September. The meetings normally last from 6:30 - 8:30 pm.  The board consists of a president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer. These are board elected positions.

In addition there are committees that will meet occassionally to consider such things as fencing, landscaping, and other items vital to this community.

If you are considering running for the PID board, you need to have submit the following:

Bio sketch ( short), including your name and address and how long you lived in High Pointe  Reason why you want to be on the PID board.  If you like to include other pertinent information, feel free to do so, but remember to keep it short.

All of this information must received no later than 12:00 noon, August 30, 2007.

Mail OR fax your information to:

Cornerstone Association Management Services, LLC ,  Attn.  Gary Josephson,  P.O. Box 191185,  Dallas, Texas,  75219, TEL: 214-520-0099  FAX:  214-520-6463

If the information is not received at the above mentioned date, you may not be considered for the election.

For additional information you may contact the following board members.

Keeping High Pointe Safe

Many residents are concerned about the safety of our streets. Please take this opportunity to share ideas on how to keep High Pointe safe. Do you think security cameras wil help? What about neighborhood watch programs? Would you be willing to pay more in taxes to help the city pay for more police officers?
